HUTCH MARMALADE AIR

One of our favourite tracks from Brighton-based jangle-pop four-piece Hutch’s new EP, Smile And Wave, is the fantastic ‘Marmalade Air’. It’s a joyous track centred on the warmth of its guitar accompaniment and the strength of those impeccable four-part harmonies. You can hear Tame Impala and King Gizzard in there, but also the innocence of Syd Barrett feels like an important influence on the band. On the broader themes explored across the EP, the band says: “The escapism we explore in our music doesn’t necessarily mean that nothing bad ever happens. We just choose to focus on the good things and small moments of peace in a big hectic world… The inspiration for this sort of material is mainly to do with our own interests and hobbies. We like rainbows and lakes, it's really that simple.” Be sure to check out Smile And Wave now, and catch the band on a tour of the UK this March. -Dan Peeke
